We’re adding the chronic illness rider to California policies

Good news: Effective November 22, we are adding the chronic illness accelerated death benefit rider to eligible new and inforce fixed indexed universal life insurance (FIUL) policies issued in California.¹ This rider comes at no additional cost of insurance to your clients.

Important dates

• Eligible policies¹ issued November 22, 2021 and after will receive the rider.
• Eligible inforce policies¹ with an effective date between January 27, 2021 and November 21, 2021 will also receive the rider.
• Updated marketing materials will be available on SalesLink^® starting November 22, 2021.
• Accelerated death benefit disclosure forms will be available on SalesLink and e-App on November 22, 2021.
• Illustrations will include the new rider starting November 20, 2021.
  (Please note that this rider will illustrate a one-time 100% acceleration, which is a different payment structure than other states.)

Upcoming policyholder mailing

Current eligible¹ FIUL policyholders in California with a policy effective date between January 27, 2021 and November 21, 2021 will receive an endorsement letter and disclosure form from F&G in the mail. Mailings will begin shortly. Even if your client has not yet received their letter, the rider is active on their policy effective November 22 as long as the policy is eligible. Please note that although your clients do not need to sign and return the disclosure form to have the rider added, we highly encourage it.
